Can You Raed Tihs?

Roy Osherove posts about an interesting research finding on how we read. Lots of people have linked to his blog entry.

What I would like is to have the syntax checkers be able to comprehend these “misspellings” as easily as our brain does. That will eliminate 90% of my syntax errors, which are usually from typing “tlb” when I should have typed “tbl”.

I wonder if this fact, when more widely understood and accepted, will cut down on the editing time of books? After all, if we can comprehend the material even if it is misspelled, why spend the money to change it?
