An automated chat program called George has won the bronze medal in the annual Loebner Prize contest. When I read about these kinds of programs, I think I might want to work on that kind of a project. It would certainly be a change of pace from working on business transactions.
However, I have browsed a few white papers on artifical intelligence. The mathematics involved are a wholly foreign concept to somebody who didn’t advance beyond linear algebra and ordinary diferential equations. When I try to understand these concepts, I think to myself that state chart analysis isn’t so bad, after all!
